Like all sport utility vehicles, the  Ford Explorer does not enjoy a good gas mileage. Its labeled as a "gas-guzzler" since it offered terrible fuel economy. Averige MPG is at 18 on highways and 16 on city streets. The Explorer Sport offers 19 mpg on highways and 15 mpg on city streets. The Explorer Sport Trac offers 16 mpg (city) and 21 mpg (highway). Annual fuel cost amount to over $1693. Gas mileage and fuel economy are not the strongest points of the Ford Explorer.
